Types of stains to look out for in and around your pool:

• Organic Stains are usually green or brown in color and are usually the result of leaves, foliage, and debris finding their way into the pool. They will plummet and leave residue on the surface of your pool. Algae or even insects can also stain your pool.
  
• Metal Stains will show as a dark and reddish-brown stain. These stains may look like rust but are usually caused by iron or other metals. Copper tends to turn the pool’s surface a turquoise or teal-blue color.
  
• Rust Stains are usually spotted rather than stains. If your pool is constructed with metal rebar, there is a chance that spots arrive because of an issue with the metal structure of the pool.
  
• Mineral Stains are a possible reaction of hard water. It can appear in your pool with a scaly white or grey deposit on the surface, or along the waterline. Typically, the mineral stain is a residue that accumulates oil and dirt creating discoloration and stain. These types of stains happen quite often in AZ.
  
• Waterline Stains are generally a result of dirt, debris, and oils that get in the water. These pollutants can be produced from dirty feet, laundry detergent, or the people using the pool. HOW VARIABLE-SPEED PUMPS SAVE ENERGY
​When we talk about pool renovations, repairs and retrofits that reduce a pool’s energy consumption, the focus typically turns to the pump, because it consumes more energy than any other piece of pool equipment. Plus, a well-designed variable-speed pump can reduce the energy costs of running a swimming pool by up to 90 percent.

Why?
Historically, pool pumps with induction motors that run at only one or two speeds have drawn more energy than is required to circulate pool water. That is because a pump that can run at only one speed must use a powerful enough speed to do the pump’s most demanding job (e.g., running a waterfall or pool cleaner). However, it takes far less power to simply keep water filtered—a difference single-speed pumps cannot address.

No matter what kind of pump is being used, slower pump speeds save energy. They also dramatically reduce the noise level associated with traditional pool pumps and reduce wear on not only the pump itself but also on filters, heaters, chlorinators and other equipment that water flows through.
